Getting on the yacht "Faros"

Today is our day to complete our brief visit to Split before checking into our yacht charter in the late afternoon.

We started off with another do it yourself breakfast courtesy of our host at St Luke's Residence. An abundance of fresh fruits, yogurt, cereal and of course, coffee.

Sue had developed an eye infection so she and Bob went off to find some medical attention. Jim and Sharon and us went for a self guided tour of the downtown. We managed to see a number of interesting buildings that we missed the day before.

Sharon found some Romans....

At 1100 h, we joined a "free" walking tour led by a wonderful university student, Nelda.

On out third lap through the town, we saw and learned even more about the town and its history.

This was followed by a fabulous lunch at a nice Konoba. We then retrieved our luggage for a 2 km sprint to the marina as a thunderstorm approached. Our check in went smoothly and we spent the remainder of the afternoon getting settled on the yacht.

The charter base manager "Jonny Depp" took the ladies to the grocery store for provisions which was a real asset as the had difficulty in deciphering the packaging on a number of products.

After they returned, he joined us on the boat for a couple of beers.

We got to hear his life story which included growing up near the front line of a nation in conflict.

Supper was fabulous thin crust wood oven pizza. As we were eating dinner, in walked our flotilla leader, Steve. We set up our rendezvous for the next day and returned to the boat at ACI Marina for the night.
