Canada Day

We were awake for a quick breakfast and a dinghy trip ashore to catch a riverboat for a half hour trip to Krka Falls National Park.

There were numerous waterfalls and pools of water. We followed the 2km boardwalk through the area stopping often to take photos and enjoy the lush beauty.

This was also the site of the second oldest hydroelectric station. Here I am with one of the original 450 kw turbines.

Around noon we returned to the boat in time for lunch and a swim before retracing our course back to the Adriatic coast. On the way, we passed several mussel farms and took the opportunity to purchase a bucket of fresh mussels and oysters.

Once out of the river, we were finally able to do some sailing and tacked our way to an anchorage at Kakan Island.

We tied to a mooring ball (cost 300 kn !) and spent the next hour preparing the oysters, mussels and pasta. The best meal I have had on a sailboat!

A clear night with numerous stars and light breeze.

  3. Just located the island of Vis. You are out there in the open sea. Hope the winds are favourable and the boat is pleasurable to sail. Hello to the crew.
